MISSION Statement

To provide aid and assistance to the displaced, disenfranchised, and needy people of our world; to provide spiritual nurture to these people in the form of Christian Gospel and Christian ministry.

Our History

NEED was founded by Indian-born Late Dulal Borpujari and his wife Bonnie Chatterjee (Chief Executive Officer and Director of HOPE ACADEMY). Dulal and Bonnie founded HOPE ACADEMY in Kolkata, in 1986. Dulal had successfully directed over 100 Third World projects and had over 15 years experience in key executive positions in the USA, Europe, and Asia. He had been honored by the King and Queen of Thailand and the Prime Minister of India. Bonnie has been an educationist all her life and has been successful in starting schools and in training children.

Bonnie envisions that a good Christian education is critical to helping families come out of the spiral of poverty they’re born into. With this in mind, Hope Academy is set up to provide not only a free Christian education where the Gospel is preached every day, but also a midday lunch, uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, other school supplies and occasionally medical care to its students.
